Le plus récent brise-glace à propulsion nucléaire russe « ARKTIKA » est le navire de tête de la classe Project 22220 (LC-60YA). Il a été lancé le 16 juin 2016 à Saint-Pétersbourg et mis en service le 21 octobre 2020 à Mourmansk.
Les principales tâches des brise-glaces de ce projet sont de maintenir ouverte la route maritime du Nord et de mener des expéditions dans l'Arctique. Grâce à son tirant d'eau variable, ce brise-glace peut fonctionner efficacement dans les estuaires peu profonds des rivières sibériennes et sur la route maritime du Nord, remplaçant respectivement les navires des classes Taimyr et arctiques précédentes. Le "ARKTIKA" est le brise-glace le plus grand et le plus puissant au monde, avec une longueur de 173,3 m et une largeur de 34 m, ce navire est capable de garder les routes ouvertes pour les pétroliers d'un déplacement jusqu'à 100 000 tonnes. Le brise-glace de ce projet pourra naviguer à travers des glaces d'une épaisseur de trois mètres.

The newest Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker “ARKTIKA” is the lead ship of the Project 22220 (LC-60YA) class. It was launched on 16 June 2016 in St. Petersburg and commissioned on 21 October 2020 in Murmansk.
The main tasks of the icebreakers of this project is to keep the Northern Sea Route open and to conduct expeditions to the Arctic. Thanks to its variable draft, this icebreaker can work efficiently in the shallow estuaries of Siberian rivers and on the Northern Sea Route, replacing the ships of the Taimyr and previous Arctic classes, respectively. The “ARKTIKA” is the largest and most powerful icebreaker in the world, with a length of 173,3 m a width of 34 m, this vessel is capable to keep the routes open for tankers with displacement up to 100,000 tons. The icebreaker of this project will be able to navigate through ice with a thickness of three meter.
