The B-52 Stratofortress is the most famous long-range jet-powered strategic bomber in the aviation history. Produced by the American company Boeing since 1955 it has been, for a long time, a symbol of the Cold War. It has been, for several years, the backbone of the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command. The B-52 has been produced in a significant number of versions that has gradually evolved the successful project to better answer to the changing in operational needs. The “G” version is the most produced B-52 variant, and it has been delivered to the S.A.C. wings from the early 60s. It could be armed with the North American AGM-28 Hound Dog stand-off air-to-surface nuclear missile that was part of the US nuclear arsenal until the mid-1970s. It was developed in the middle of the "Cold War" to carry out nuclear attacks on high priority land targets such as air and missile bases

Le B-52 Stratofortress est le bombardier stratégique à réaction à longue portée le plus célèbre de l'histoire de l'aviation. Produit par la société américaine Boeing depuis 1955, il a longtemps été un symbole de la guerre froide. Il a été, pendant plusieurs années, l'épine dorsale du Commandement aérien stratégique de l'US Air Force. Le B-52 a été produit dans un nombre important de versions qui ont progressivement fait évoluer le projet réussi pour mieux répondre à l'évolution des besoins opérationnels. La version "G" est la variante B-52 la plus produite, et elle a été livrée à la S.A.C. ailes du début des années 60. Il pourrait être armé du missile nucléaire nord-américain AGM-28 Hound Dog qui faisait partie de l'arsenal nucléaire américain jusqu'au milieu des années 1970. Il a été développé au milieu de la "guerre froide" pour mener des attaques nucléaires sur des cibles terrestres hautement prioritaires telles que des bases aériennes et de missiles.
